Sign the Petition to Declare a Formal Global Warming State of Emergency

We, the citizens of our nation and of our Earth, are endowed with certain rights, powers, and obligations, which demand we act both individually and collectively to protect and preserve the ongoing evolution of life on Earth, including our future generations.

Based upon a preponderance of scientific evidence we recognize our global climate is rapidly warming and becoming increasingly unstable due to human-caused carbon pollution from the burning of fossil fuels. If we do not change course before global warming tipping points are crossed, this destabilization of our climate will continue to cause ever-increasing suffering and irreversible devastation for both current and future generations. If left unresolved, it could cause the extinction, or near extinction, of the human species.

We further recognize that because of numerous technical and human factors, for all intents and purposes global warming (aka climate change,) has become irreversible for at least the next 50 years and the consequent additional consequences occurring over this additional 50 year time period is the greatest currently active threat to the security of all nations, comparable in scope of impact to global nuclear war. Escalating average global temperature rises will lead to a massive destabilization of normal life affecting first millions, then billions of people forced to deal with ongoing climate catastrophes, severe food and other resource depletion, and mass climate migrations. (See this page which proves the statements of this paragraph are factual.)

Nearly all of the other major problems our world faces today will also worsen due to the threat multiplier and great disruptor effects of escalating global warming.

All of the ecological, economic and political problems (listed just below) will cross over into each other and greatly magnify those problems as average global temperatures continues to rise.

  • Food and resource depletion
  • Severe droughts, floods, and wildfires
  • Rising sea levels
  • Water pollution and water table loss
  • Desertification and deforestation
  • Ocean fish stock depletion
  • Growing economic inequity, poverty, and instability
  • Political instability and injustice
  • War and regional conflicts
  • Increasing potential of pandemics and other health crises

Despite 30 + years of education, study, and discussion about the possible irreversible effects of human-caused carbon and methane pollution of our atmosphere, global warming temperatures have escalated to levels that may have already passed or be close to passing global warming tipping points with impacts that are now irreversible for centuries to thousands of years.

We must immediately stop the continued rise of average global temperature by decreasing the human-caused production of greenhouse gases from the burning of fossil fuels.

Failure to resolve global warming for ourselves and future generations is simply not a survivable option.

As global citizens of every nation on Earth, we ask you, our national leaders, to first initiate the necessary steps to formally declare a national and international global warming State of Emergency. And then at this emergency meeting, call for the immediate allocation of all of the resources, personnel, and actions necessary (like those described in the Job One for Humanity Plan,) to quickly resolve this State of Emergency to sustainably protect, preserve, and advance the continued evolution of humanity and life on Earth.

By signing this petition now (in the box below,) I am notifying my national politicians of my demand for their action on this matter and, I am also pledging to act together with others as one human family to acknowledge and resolve the escalating global warming emergency.

And, when our government(s) warn places like Syria to stop things like chemical warfare, do they point out the consequential effects on global warming? Or is it simply unspoken there, and so many more instances, because our own governments don’t believe their own reputable scientists!? Why is this not every human being’s primary concern? Why are we wondering what celebrities did what, when we, as a race, may not live to see Hollywood or New York, or Tokyo, or London or Venice, Sydney……in possibly 10 f#n years (!?), we can’t be sure as long as the problem is ignored. My heart and prayers go out to those millions already dramatically affected, and for the rest of us idly waiting for it. It’s no longer up for debate, it’s not IF, it’s when. WAKE UP.

I don’t want to die, we are in a state of near death, worsening by the year. I live in NZ, and if global warming continues, we’ll be completely submerged!
