Sign the Petition to Declare a Formal Global Warming State of Emergency

We, the citizens of our nation and of our Earth, are endowed with certain rights, powers, and obligations, which demand we act both individually and collectively to protect and preserve the ongoing evolution of life on Earth, including our future generations.

Based upon a preponderance of scientific evidence we recognize our global climate is rapidly warming and becoming increasingly unstable due to human-caused carbon pollution from the burning of fossil fuels. If we do not change course before global warming tipping points are crossed, this destabilization of our climate will continue to cause ever-increasing suffering and potentially irreversible devastation for both current and future generations. If left unresolved, it could cause the extinction, or near extinction, of the human species.

We further recognize that because of numerous technical and human factors, for all intents and purposes global warming (aka climate change,) has become irreversible for at least the next 50 years and the consequent additional consequences occurring over this additional 50 year time period is the greatest currently active threat to the security of all nations, comparable in scope of impact to global nuclear war. Escalating average global temperature rises will lead to a massive destabilization of normal life affecting first millions, then billions of people forced to deal with ongoing climate catastrophes, severe food and other resource depletion, and mass climate migrations. (See this page which proves the statements of this paragraph are factual.)

Nearly all of the other major problems our world faces today will also worsen due to the threat multiplier and great disruptor of escalating global warming. All of the ecological, economic and political problems (listed just below) will cross over into each other and greatly magnify those problems as average global temperatures continues to rise.

  • Food and resource depletion
  • Severe droughts, floods, and wildfires
  • Rising sea levels
  • Water pollution and water table loss
  • Desertification and deforestation
  • Ocean fish stock depletion
  • Growing economic inequity, poverty, and instability
  • Political instability and injustice
  • War and regional conflicts
  • Increasing potential of pandemics and other health crises

Despite 30 + years of education, study, and discussion about the possible irreversible effects of human-caused carbon and methane pollution of our atmosphere, global warming temperatures have escalated to levels that may have already passed or be close to passing global warming tipping points with impacts that are now irreversible for centuries to thousands of years.

We must immediately stop the continued rise of average global temperature by decreasing the human-caused production of greenhouse gases from the burning of fossil fuels.

Failure to resolve global warming for ourselves and future generations is simply not a survivable option.

As global citizens of every nation on Earth, we ask you, our national leaders, to first initiate the necessary steps to formally declare a national and international global warming State of Emergency. And then at this emergency meeting, call for the immediate allocation of all of the resources, personnel, and actions necessary to quickly resolve this State of Emergency to sustainably protect, preserve, and advance the continued evolution of humanity and life on Earth.

By signing this petition now (in the box below,) I am notifying my national politicians of my demand for their action on this matter and, I am also pledging to act together with others as one human family to acknowledge and resolve the escalating global warming emergency.

Arguing against global warming is ridiculous. At first it could have been seen as some hippy crap, but when the controversy gets to this magnitude its time to wake up. There is no argument anymore, there is only fact. Even if there was an argument there is so much negativity around the burning of fossil fuels, illegal logging, deforestation, etc, that the change should be taken seriously anyway! No way this many people would be promoting change just for the hell of it!

Gisele Tadlock stated: “I do not know how I can be active in helping to stop the global warming of our planet.” Gisele, you can start at home, teaching your children, and possibly enlisting your neighbours to begin working on their own properties to enrich your environment. Instead of a pristine yard with expensive grass for decoration, you might consider planting various trees..fruit trees included. Trees filter a lot of pollutants from the atmosphere, and many of them are useful for bird habitats, squirrels, and other animals. and as a bonus, many have nuts or leaves that provide sustenance for various creatures. If you have room in your back yard, you can install a pond. You can purchase the pond shell from hardware stores, and dig a hole that it will fit in with the top level with the ground. Add some pond fish…pond goldfish are fine…and get some fish food to feed them occasionally. If you live in an area that has mosquitoes, the mature females will lay eggs in your pond, and when the larvae hatch, the fish will gladly dine on the fresh food, reducing the potential number of mosquitoes in your area.

You may want to invest in a bat habitat (house)…similar to a bird house. Bats will consume a lot of mosquitoes in the evening, and that reduces the problem of disease carried by mosquitoes.

You may want to encourage birds, as well, by setting out some bird feeders and bird houses. Read up on the type of birds there are in your area, and what their nesting preferences are. Make sure that your children, if they are old enough, help with the recreation of the yard.

The more plants and trees that you have, the more filtering of pollution there will be. I hope that you can find these suggestions helpful. It is what we do here in NW FLA, and it works pretty well.

It’s sad how we treat our earth and the species living on this Earth including our own. We need to do something before it’s too late. Reclaim our voices to stop this destruction.

I do not know how I can be active in helping to stop the global warming of our planet. I worry for my children and eventually will have grandchildren what kind of world will they inherit. I currently reside in California which has water rationing and want to return to Oregon or Washington eventually where I can grow my own food and have a orchard without worrying about the drought. What can we do as individuals to prevent the upcoming disasters of global warming.

    Looking to help need advice.
