The Climate Change Doomsday Clock has just been updated and, you are not going to like it!

Almost everyone has heard about the Doomsday Clock created by a group of nuclear scientists not long after the advent of dropping the first atomic bomb on Japan in 1945. The goal of this first nuclear scientist's Doomsday Clock was to warn the world and to quantify and timeline how close we were to nuclear war, human extinction, and our doomsday.

The goal of the Climate Change Doomsday Clock was created to warn the world and to quantify and timeline for how close we are to a global warming-accelerated human extinction and doomsday event.

February 2021 was an Important Month for UN Reports on the Climate and Biodiversity Emergencies

Several UN reports in February 2021 reminded the world about something we already knew (from the IPCC 2018 1.5ºC Report and the UNEP 2020 Gap Report): that to prevent global climate catastrophe, global carbon emissions must drop 50% from today by 2030 — which can readily be achieved by today’s amazing developments in clean renewable energies. All that is stopping the transition to energy safety is world governments still handing out money to the fossil fuel corporations.

President Biden’s Bid to Become Climate Change World Champion

On day one of his administration, President Biden issued what could possibly be the world’s strongest overall policy on climate change (though still not enough to prevent climate catastrophe). In particular, this applies to the section: Accounting for the Benefits of Reducing Climate Pollution. (No one else is calling it "climate pollution.")

Below is a much shortened and highlighted edit of the far-reaching Biden executive order with respect to climate change.

Record High Northern Hemisphere Summer Heating is the Worst News

Many Americans may not know it, but the biggest issue in the US election is global climate change. That's because it will hurt the lives of all Americans (with many already affected) and leave the legacy of a disastrous country for their children. And that’s because atmospheric CO2 (the amount of carbon dioxide already in the atmosphere) from burning fossil fuels is at a 23-million-year high and accelerating — increasing at a faster and faster rate. While the Republican Trump administration has opened up America for more fracking, neither presidential candidate has a plan to stop burning fossil fuels.

The 2020 Republican Party platform will hasten total planetary collapse … but the 2020 Democratic Party platform does not avoid planetary collapse

(Special Note: By law, the Job One for Humanity organization does not and cannot endorse or condemn candidates or political parties. It is allowed to provide commentary on specific policies that political candidates or parties are forwarding that do relate to or affect our mission.

We provide all information on the basis that it is for you alone to decide upon its merit or usefulness. We provide this information also to encourage public discussion and dialog on the relevant policy issues. The article below is written by Peter Carter, an independent climate researcher. The Republican Party platform

On 22 August 2020, the Republican Party passed a firm resolution to stick with the party’s 2016 platform without any change, saying it “will continue to enthusiastically support the President’s America-first agenda” (or, more accurately, his “America-second agenda” as his first agenda always seems to be Donald Trump).

This will continue the Trump / GOP-driven descent towards American fascism.

On climate change, it will continue to “unleash $50 trillion in untapped shale oil, and natural gas reserves, plus hundreds of years in clean [sic] coal reserves.”

The Biggest News about Climate Change

From my perspective, the biggest news about climate change is that it is no longer news.

Elder climate activist, the BBC’s Sir David Attenborough, and the youthful climate activist, Greta Thunberg, are among those who have voiced concern that while the Covid-19 pandemic is a present-time global crisis, climate disruption is a dire global emergency for all today’s children and all future generations (not to mention the millions of people whose lives have already been impacted by climate disasters at least in part attributable to climate disruption).

Several writers have found similarities between Covid and the climate, and some have called on the world to launch a Covid-style response — immediate, united, aggressive — to avoid total planetary climate catastrophe.

The planet is primed for runaway global heating

As the Arctic goes, so goes the planet. On 23 June 2020, a new record high  temperature was recorded in the Siberian Arctic. The northern Russian town of Verkhoyansk hit a stunning 38°C (100.4°F), which is 18°C (32.6°F) higher than normal. Climate experts were shocked, as this Arctic heating was not predicted by models to occur until the end of this century. With this, the planetary climate emergency has reached a far higher level of “dire,” increasing the threat to our future survival. The reason is runaway.

Covid-19 and Changing the Climate: “Climate Change Brings the Specter of New Infectious Diseases”

Quite by chance, the scientific Journal of Clinical Investigation on 6 January 2020 published an update on the concern that global surface heating could see the emergence of new infectious diseases, as well as an increase in the prevalence of long known killer diseases. The title of the paper was “Climate change brings the specter of new infectious diseases.”

SARS-CoV-2 (coronavirus or Covid-19) is a new infectious disease that has become a global pandemic.

This adds to the overwhelming evidence and the recommendations of climate scientists that we must put global greenhouse gas—especially carbon—emissions into decline on an immediate basis. One irony of the pandemic is that while governments and corporations only plan to keep emissions increasing, the new virus will most likely put them into decline this year. However, when the pandemic is over, those world powers will boost the fossil-fueled economy and global emissions more than ever. It’s an insanely evil plan for unprecedented suffering of humanity—and global suicide.

Here is a description of having Covid-19 from a healthy adult living a healthy lifestyle in a healthy, clean-air environment region of British Columbia, Canada:
