Stevie Wonder struck a political note at a concert to raise money for hurricane relief late Tuesday, saying anyone who does not believe in global warming "must be blind."
"Anyone who believes that there’s no such thing as global warming must be blind or unintelligent," the musician said during the "Hand in Hand" telethon.
"Lord, please save us all."
Wonder's comments come amid questions for the Trump administration about climate change in the wake of two devastating hurricanes making landfall in the U.S.
President Trump's homeland security adviser, Tom Bossert, said on Tuesday it would be inappropriate for him to comment on climate change.
"I think what’s prudent for us right now is to make sure those response capabilities are there. Causality is something outside my ability to analyze right now,” Bossert said.
“I do note that there’s a cyclical nature to a lot of these hurricane seasons,” he said.
Scientists who study the issue say that while climate change does not cause any hurricanes, it creates conditions that can make them stronger and more intense.
The White House has begun rolling back nearly all of Obama-era climate change policies, including limits on greenhouse gas emissions from power plants and the oil and natural gas sector.
