The nine facts in this article are the facts that most other environmental groups are afraid to tell you. Once you understand them, you will be better prepared for what is happening now and what is coming.

From my perspective, the biggest news about climate change is that it is no longer news.

Elder climate activist, the BBC’s Sir David Attenborough, and the youthful climate activist, Greta Thunberg, are among those who have voiced concern that while the Covid-19 pandemic is a present-time global crisis, climate disruption is a dire global emergency for all today’s children and all future generations (not to mention the millions of people whose lives have already been impacted by climate disasters at least in part attributable to climate disruption).

Several writers have found similarities between Covid and the climate, and some have called on the world to launch a Covid-style response — immediate, united, aggressive — to avoid total planetary climate catastrophe.

As reported by The Guardian in June, the International Energy Agency (IEA) gives the world only six months in which to change the course of the carbon climate emergency and “prevent a post-lockdown rebound in greenhouse gas emissions that would overwhelm efforts to stave off climate catastrophe.”

What’s Good for Covid is Good for Climate

The Covid-19 global emergency response has been a great unprecedented success in surviving a global virus pandemic. In comparison, the worse-than-nothing response to the global climate emergency is an unprecedented policy and public health failure that humanity will not survive, if not corrected immediately.

To commemorate the 50^th anniversary of Earth Day — a celebration that piqued my interest and deep participation for many years — I would like to honour three of my Earth Day heroes. These are individuals who have spent their lives in outstanding service to the Earth.
