The following is our Climate Change and Global Crises Resilience Plan (aka Plan B). It is designed to help individuals, businesses, and governments prepare for, slow down and survive the now unavoidable consequences of global warming.
Those consequences are:
a. the primary and secondary global warming consequences increasing in severity, frequency, and scale,
b. crossing dangerous climate tipping points at faster rates,
c. a rapidly deteriorating environment for growing food crops, and
d. the worsening of these 11 other interconnected and major global crises.
For humanity to survive the above worsening global warming-connected consequences and have a livable future two, crucial things need to happen:
- Our governments must immediately enforce global fossil fuel reductions close to the 2025 global reduction targets to slow down global warming-related consequences enough to avoid human extinction. And,
- We need to get individuals, businesses, and nations to create and execute emergency backup plans. We need a Plan B at this time because the odds of coming close to the 2025 global fossil fuel reduction targets are terrible, and we also are facing the rapid worsening of the other 11 global crises.

Introduction: Climate Change Plan A has Failed. A Climate Change and Global Crises Resilience Plan B is Now Needed.
Plan A for climate change was having our governments gradually reduce global fossil fuel use over the last 40 years. It failed horribly! If we were even remotely successful with Plan A, the planet would not be rapidly overheating, the environment would not be deteriorating, and we would not be on the edge of an unavoidable extinction of much of humanity by mid-century, Additionally, we would not be staring down the high probability of total human extinction by as soon as 2070 or sooner.
What is happening with accelerating global warming is critical to our future because it is related to and contributing to the rapid worsening of almost all of our 11 other global crises.
The following carbon and methane graphs illustrate just how much Plan A was a total failure in reducing the key global heat-creating greenhouse gasses. The first atmospheric graph below shows the three primary greenhouse gases in parts per billion (PPB). All three of these greenhouse gases have been increasing rapidly since the Industrial Revolution (since about 1750.) Worse yet, they have been growing exponentially since 2000!
The rise of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere directly increases the average global temperature. The graphs below painfully illuminate the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and our government's inability to do anything effective to reduce global fossil fuel-related greenhouse gases.
The rapidly escalating primary and secondary global warming-related consequences of this decades-long failure by our governments now compels intelligent individuals, businesses, and nations to create a climate change resilience Plan B to protect themselves now that Plan A has failed and looks like it cannot and will not ever succeed.
You can also see the Plan A failure in the rapidly increasing atmospheric methane (Ch4) graph (below) in parts per billion. (Methane is about 80 times more potent for heating up the atmosphere.) This methane graph starts at the beginning of the fossil fuel-powered Industrial Revolution (about 1750 with the widespread use of coal.) The methane Ch4 graph begins to rocket up at the beginning of the 1900s when additional types of fossil fuels came into more widespread use.
Increased fossil fuel-derived atmospheric methane always increases average global warming temperatures. (There is also another atmospheric carbon graph a bit farther down this page that looks even worse than the steep rise in the following methane graph.)

The Job One for Humanity, Prepare, Adapt and Survive Plan B for Climate Change and Global Crises Resilience
It is now time for wise individuals, businesses, and nations to begin an effective Climate Change Resilience Plan B before it is too late! Below you will find a practical and prioritized resilience survival kit for the critical global crises we currently face. It also will help you understand why having a Plan B resilience survival kit is crucial for preparing for, adapting to, and surviving the future.

Our Climate Change Resilience Plan B Actions for the World's Governments, Part 2
To achieve civilization-level of resilience we need to prepare, adapt, survive and save and salvage whatever we can before it is too late! While our governments do everything we can to come as close to the 2025 fossil fuel reduction targets as we can, simultaneously, our governments must begin moving critical resources, technology, infrastructure, and at-risk populations into the global warming safer zones in a wise, equitable and well-managed way. This governmental resilience Plan B section is essential because the odds are very, very poor that we will be successful in reaching the 2025 global fossil fuel reduction targets and we need to slow down global warming!
Unfortunately, only our governments will be able to slow down global warming enough to make a real difference in the future so more people can live longer and more stably. Always keep in mind that the following governmental emergency backup Plan B also needs to be enacted simultaneously with the governmental actions of the Job One Plan.
Because of the unacceptably high probability of 2025 failure, humanity as a whole must also have a government-level resilience emergency backup plan beyond our individual plans. This government-level resilience backup plan will prepare our nations and humanity for the worst possible outcomes. This way, we can still save and salvage whatever we can, while we can.
At least, with this governmental level, resilience emergency backup Plan B successfully executed, some of humanity might be able to survive longer to re-populate the earth and preserve the best of our civilization. The key climate change government actions to save and salvage what we can while we still have time
Global warming and these other poorly managed critical global challenges we currently face are most likely get a lot worse before they get better. While the actions below are more directly focused on the more immediate threat of the global warming emergency, indirectly they too will also be helpful make things more survivable as the other 12 critical global challenges continue to worsen.)
Action Step 1. Our governments must begin moving critical resources, technology, key infrastructure, and our younger at-risk populations into the global warming safer zones in a wise, equitable, and well-managed way.
For our long-term future and safety, essential resources, infrastructure, and crucial genetic and social diversity transfers will need to be executed at the same time as the other individual and business action steps (above) are being done. If things continue to go wrong as they are now, this government action step may turn out to be the most important action taken for the future of humanity and preserving civilization.
Of all of the things to be done in this step, working out a migration plan for a fair and equitable migration lottery for all those younger individuals who have not already migrated will be the most challenging. This equitable migration management is critical because of the poor soils and shorter growing seasons above the 45th parallel north or below the 45th parallel south. Those areas of deficient soils and inadequate sunlight will not be able to grow enough food to feed our current human population. Because of this food production limitation, a fair lottery will be essential to the survival of humanity and civilization.
Even before this lottery begins, our best scientists must determine how much food can be grown in those global warming-safe areas and what the maximum allowable population should be. These calculations are based on the total amount of food needed for that existing population while also maintaining adequate food reserves for unplanned and unexpected contingencies. Once they have those calculations, they can set initial and or adjust lottery migration allocations as conditions continually change.
Even before we set the final number of people that the remaining global warming safe zones will support, we must also mobilize the necessary agricultural resources to scale up food production. This scaling-up of the farming output will allow for the rapidly increasing migrating populations coming to those safer zones as well as to compensate for the generally more deficient soils and reduced sunlight found there.
One more thing must be said about the migration lottery. It must be almost entirely for individuals under 30 or for individuals who are no older than 40 with young children. The older generations have failed horribly to pass on a livable legacy to the younger generations.
The older generations have also lived far longer and more stable lives than the younger X, Y, and Z generations ever will. Therefore, generational justice demands that the most survivable remaining areas go to the younger generations.
The lottery also cannot be hijacked or dominated by wealthy individuals, corporations, or nations. No special interest group must unjustly control or determine who is allowed to migrate based on privilege, position, wealth, politics, or any other national, cultural, or social categorization.
If it is not a fair and just lottery, based upon what is essential for humanity and civilization to survive as well as an equitable representation of all of the categories mentioned above, then those who are left behind will fight to the death and eventually bring about the end of everything. This new lottery failure conflict will occur because those who feel the lottery was unfair will invade the safe zones. They will use whatever nuclear, biological, or chemical technology has been left behind in unsafe zones.
Those with any decision power over who is allowed to migrate can not be allowed to use their political, military, or financial positions, advantages, or privileges to place themselves, their families, friends, allies, or business interests in any better position than any other individual citizen in the unsafe zones in these lotteries.
Any random lottery winner selection methodology must draw only from a pool of the most qualified climagees with the essential skills for the new world we will be living in. It must also have layers of independent safeguards to prevent fraud, bias, and any form of selection favoritism.
This lottery must also for the following types of necessary diversity; genetic, national, racial, ethnic, religious, cultural, sexual orientation, gender identity, rural/urban/indigenous, and rich/poor. Communities most affected by global warming damage, which also have contributed the least to the global warming emergency should receive special consideration if justice is to be served.
Having enough genetic diversity will be extremely important because most of humanity by mid-century will eventually die. This will occur as we approach the final global warming extinction tipping point of carbon 600 ppm.
If the lottery selection for migration to the global warming safer zones is made justly and fairly, it will be viewed as credible and has the best chance to work.
There are many good reasons for executing this last chance to save humanity and civilization migration, lottery, and infrastructure transfer backup plan simultaneously with the other action steps described at the top of this page. Here are just a few reminders:
First, we are fighting for the very survival of humanity over the next 30 to 50+ years. Most if not all of humanity and civilization will end if we fail to slow and lessen global warming enough not to cross carbon 600 ppm and, we fail to move our critical infrastructure and essential populations to the far north or the far south in time.
Secondly, Our fossil fuel "bill of consequences" has come due, and there's no way to escape it. We now have to deal with the horrible accumulated consequences of the fossil fuel carbon pollution of our atmosphere for the last 200 years (since the industrial revolution began. ) Additionally, we also have to deal with the extra accumulating consequences from fossil fuel burning over the next 30-50+ years where we will undoubtedly reach the carbon 500 ppm level (and most likely reach carbon 600 ppm extinction level.)
Thirdly, the fossil fuel pollution that we have now and that we will continue to put into our atmosphere for the next 30-50+ years will last for centuries to thousands of years! If we stay on our current path of "too little fossil fuel reductions too late," things will not be better for those who are lucky enough to survive. Our children and future generations will curse us for our selfishness and blind stupidity. They will suffer for many centuries before their climate will re-stabilize and carbon in parts per million level to drop back down to the pre-industrial safer carbon level of 350-270 ppm. (As mentioned earlier, we are now at about carbon 420 ppm adding about three additional carbon ppm each year.)
Forthy, the amount of emergency adaptation work needed and the short amount of time available (from now until about 10-20 years from now as things get progressively much worse,) makes this immediate adaptation and preparation step an action and planning imperative! Adapting and moving all necessary critical resources, technology, infrastructure will take a lot of time. This mass transfer means moving them into the safer areas near or above the 45th parallel north or near or below the 45th parallel south. (You do not want to move much above the 55th parallel north or much above the 55th parallel south.)
And finally, these transfers will be a massive undertaking, which will require new levels of cooperation between nations never seen before.
This mass population transfer and the demands of justice also means:
1. Moving willing people that already are suffering and are the most vulnerable today to the worst global warming consequences. This initial series of mass migrations must be done without panic and in a well-organized and well-supported way. These first migration relocations also will be a necessary rehearsal for the additional millions of people that will need to be relocated each year as global warming worsens and makes growing food and surviving impossible in many areas.
2. Moving hundreds of millions of willing people (eventually a many as several billion) from the most unsafe global warming zones into the safer zones. This mass migration will be fraught with challenges that will require profound international cooperation at unprecedented levels. This ongoing year-by-year migration will, by necessity and urgency, become the greatest migration in human history.
This "Great Global Migration" without question needs to begin now! If we wait until it's too late, there will be panic, chaos, and severe conflicts if not all-out international war as the remaining trapped populations and any lottery losers desperately try to migrate far north or far south.
People will eventually realize that what is happening today is not random, lousy weather. They will finally see our worsening climate as an increasing pattern of storms and other extreme weather consequences regularly increasing in frequency, severity, and scale that has not been seen for thousands of years if ever. Once they realize this, many more will then migrate.
By about 2029, we estimate that at least 2-5% of the world's population will have figured out that the wild climate fluctuations and seasonal extremes that they are witnessing are not random or freak occurrences. They will have figured out that the climate is destabilizing steadily and rapidly. They too will realize the climate catastrophes we are already experiencing are showing a clear pattern of ever-increasing severity, frequency, and scale (the size of the area they are covering).
Once these hundreds of millions of people realize they need to get out soon or get caught in the suffering, chaos, and death of crashing and soaring real estate, economies, and market prices (depending upon which area you're leaving or moving to,) they will migrate, and they will migrate desperate and fast!
Once these hundreds of millions migrate, others remaining will see and hear about it. Then those people will begin migrating, so they too do not get caught with no place to move to or too few resources left to get there.
To avoid the potential chaos of the Great Global Migration not well managed by cooperating world governments, our governments need to act NOW and not ten years from now.
Lastly, to make the new migration lottery system work effectively individuals already living near or above the 45th parallel north or near or above the 45th parallel south cannot and should not be removed to make room for new climagees. This existing resident removal strategy would only cause more conflict, delay, and confusion, which would further complicate an already massively complex undertaking.
Action Step 2: Pass new laws to prevent all unfair profiteering by any individual, corporation, or nation seeking to exploit the extinction emergency or the mass migrations to safer areas. It is critical to set severe penalties and to remove all profit from any entity charging more than the reasonable pre-emergency prices for food the global warming safer lands or anything else.
Actions Step 3: Moving critical infrastructure also includes moving the world's artistic, architectural, and cultural heritage from the global warming unsafe zones to the global warming safe zones for preservation. The best of our art, architecture, and cultures are also what make us human. These things contain critical elements of our history and who we are that will help keep us sane while going through this catastrophe.
Action Step 4: Move all needed global plant and animal diversity into the safest remaining areas.
Many needed plants and animals will not be able to migrate on their own in time to avoid extinction. Almost in a Noah's ark fashion, our governments must begin cataloging and making provisions to get all needed global plants and animals into the safer areas where they can survive and may be required.
Action Step 5: Educate and incentivize having the citizens of every nation begin their emergency preparations and backup plans. To be successful in saving the future, it is not only governments that must start acting in this area. Simultaneously, every citizen also needs to be responsible for themselves and become a part of the greatest mobilization of resources and people in human history. It is unlikely any government will have enough resources to protect all of its citizens. That is why you must begin your own Plan B preparations and planning. Action Step 6: We need to ensure that nuclear reactors, nuclear and biological weapons, and toxic chemical manufacturing sites within all global warming unsafe zones are secured.
Secured means that all remaining more stable governments have an adequately resourced and ready backup plan in place for managing these contingencies as the less stable governments and economies collapse in the unsafe zones.
As global warming worsens inside the global warming unsafe zones, the political systems and nations will destabilize, and most of them will collapse. Once those political systems collapse, there will be no longer be stable and organized procedures, staffing, or resources for ensuring that:
1. any nuclear reactors within those areas do not meltdown and go critical or that,
2. nuclear or biological weapons within those areas are not stolen or triggered or that,
3. toxic chemical manufacturing sites within those areas do not leak.
If any of this happened, it would threaten not only the survival of that particular area, region, or the nations within that unsafe zone; it would also threaten the survival of the whole world.
Take a moment to imagine the hundreds of nuclear reactors in the global warming unsafe zones becoming new Chernobyls and Fukagimas one after another. There would be no place on earth nor any bunker that would keep you safe from this massive amount of radiation circling the planet for decades to hundreds to thousands of years.
Now take a moment to imagine, all of the biological and chemical weapons and toxic chemical manufacturing sites in the unsafe global warming zones becoming compromised and leaking their slow and painful death out into the world. Surviving this would be a living hell and near impossible.
The preceding worst-case nuclear, biological, and chemical catastrophe is what will likely happen if the nations of the world do not preemptively cooperate in this emergency area. The world's nations need to realize that our escalating global warming emergency is a no-win game unless they collaborate and make the best possible decisions to preserve the human species and our civilization.
If the governments of the world do not thoroughly do this action step two, there is no rational or reasonable hope that even the smallest part of the human race will survive to save civilization and repopulate the earth within the global warming safer zones.
Action Step 7: Each government must create archives containing all human knowledge needed for the post-collapse and post-dark age periods. These many archives must survive the post-collapse new dark ages for decades to centuries.
These archives will be essential to the survivors for rebuilding the world. The hope is that when survivors rebuild, they will use the archived knowledge and the many painful lessons of the great extinction and collapse to create a Great Global Rebirth.
Additionally, governments must also begin planning how to make the post-collapse dark ages as short as possible. The longer the post-collapse dark age period lasts, the lower the probability much of humanity will survive it. The longer the new dark age lasts, the likelihood of this tragedy empowering the Great Global Rebirth also diminishes radically.
Action Step 8: While the governments of the world are doing all of the action steps in 1-6 above, it is critically important that they also engage in the radical fossil fuel reduction action steps described in Part 3 of the Job One Plan. These additional steps are absolutely essential to slowing down global warming enough so we still have adequate time left to prepare, adapt, and migrate so at least some of humanity will survive.
Never forget that getting at least close to the 2025 global fossil fuel reduction targets is our last best chance to prevent our reaching the carbon 600 ppm extinction tipping point. Unfortunately, it is highly probable that we will cross the carbon 600 ppm final extinction-level tipping point.

Our Climate Change and Global Crises Resilience Plan B Actions for Individuals and Businesses, Part 3
Part 3 of Plan B provides the information you will need to adapt to what is coming, reduce your personal or business fossil fuel use, and become more energy resilient and sustainable. Reducing our fossil fuel use is critical to getting close to the 2025 global fossil fuel reduction targets. Additionally, becoming more sustainable will be critical to your survival as many parts of society will break down in the later phases of the die-off of much of humanity by mid-century.
Part 3 information also will be a great aid in learning how to survive for the longest possible time. Part 3 of the Job One Plan contains the how-to manual for creating sustainable prosperity and a thriving post-collapse future.

Depending on your current location, you should still have time to prepare for and adapt to the myriad of now unavoidable global warming-related primary and secondary consequences.
To help you determine how much time you have to prepare, adapt, or relocate, we have provided the global warming and interrelated crisis timetable below.
Keep in mind that this timetable significantly depends on your current location's safety and global warming risk level. If you are in a higher-risk area, the timeframes are shorter. Also, please keep in mind that while you are preparing and adapting keep pushing our governments to radically reduce global fossil fuel use so that some of humanity will be able to survive mass extinction or near-total extinction even though the current odds are terrible.
Here are the critical survival and location-relevant deadlines and timeframes to know and use for your personal and business survival:
a. The 5-year deadline: (From now until the end of 2025.) At this time, it is appropriate to admit it is all but impossible for us to fully meet the total 2025 global fossil fuel reduction targets! But, we still do have enough time left to slow down (but not avoid) a mid-century mass extinction event for much of humanity by getting close to them. Thus, although we have passed the point of avoiding the die-off of much of humanity, we still can maintain some level of control of our global warming future. And most importantly, we can still prevent total extinction by getting very close to the 2025 targets!
This total extinction danger also means we have to educate the world about the extinction-evoking global warming tipping point deadlines after preparing our survival provisions and after creating safe and sustainable community cooperatives or sanctuaries. b. The 5-10-year deadline: (This assumes we will miss the 2025 global fossil fuel reduction targets and did not get close to them.) From 2020 to 2027, global warming consequences will steadily worsen in a rising but steeper linear progression. More people will wisely migrate to safer areas. Millions will die because of climate-related food shortages and other global warming-related catastrophes.
If you have prepared, adapted, and if applicable, are in a global warming safer location before 2027, and you have a good Plan B in place, depending upon your location, relative stability and security for family and business are probable until about 2030 to 2040. c. The 10-15 year deadline: (This assumes we will miss the 2025 global fossil fuel reduction targets, and we did not get close to the 2025 targets.) After 2030-2035 many other climate, human, ecological, political, and economic tipping points will be crossed due to accelerating global warming consequences and global warming amplifying the consequences of most of these 11 other critical global challenges.
The stability and security of even the safest and best prepared global warming safer locations will lessen and become increasingly challenging. Those individuals in supportive cooperatives or sustainable communities should be significantly safer and better adapted than those who are not. Tens of millions will die from climate-related consequences.
d. The 15-25 year deadline: (This assumes we will miss the 2025 global fossil fuel reduction targets, and we did not get close to meeting these targets.) Beginning around 2030, the frequency, severity, and size of the 20 worst global warming consequences will move from a steeply rising linear progression into an exponential progression. As a result, stability and security for even the best prepared, safer global warming locations, cooperatives, and sustainable communities will become far more complex and dangerous. Hundreds of millions will die from climate-related consequences.
e. The 25-30-year deadline: (This assumes we will miss the 2025 global fossil fuel reduction targets, and at least, we got close to them or compensated for these targets somewhere over this period.) By mid-century, extinction for much of humanity will still be unavoidable. From 2030-2050 will be the riskiest period to survive for much to most of society. Generally, things will be better in safer global warming locations, special cooperatives, and sustainable communities. But even there, survival is far from guaranteed without the highest preparation, adaptation, and cooperation levels. Billions will die from global warming-related consequences as we approach the 30-year mark.
f. The 50-year deadline: (This assumes we will miss the 2025 global fossil fuel reduction targets, and unfortunately, we did not even get close to them.) In this case, we will face the worst consequences of runaway global warming. We will be heading toward the beginning of the runaway greenhouse gas effect, which ripped the atmosphere off Venus. Because of this escalating runaway global warming reality and not getting close to the 2025 reduction targets, humanity will, unfortunately, finally face a near-total or total extinction event beginning as soon as 2070-2100. We call this the Climageddon Scenario.
Most of humanity will have died from global warming-related consequences by the time we approach the 50-year mark.

Three compelling reasons for you to start creating a Prepare Adapt and Survive Climate Change and Global Crises Resilience Plan B at this time
Individuals, businesses, or nations that are preparing a Global Warming-driven resilience Plan B believe that:
1. they see an unavoidable and inescapable cascading convergence of consequences, which will create a stream of horrific catastrophes and system collapses. This coming nightmare is because of the many amplifying, multiplying, and disruptive interactions between our 12 worsening critical global crises.
2. with so little time left before global warming consequences and other global crises accelerate to unbearable levels, they now need to use the remaining time and available resources for executing their emergency resilience backup Plan B. And for individuals,
3. they do not have any practical way to personally execute the political influence steps of Part three of the Job One Plan. These steps would slow down the primary global warming accelerator of the coming catastrophes and system collapses.
Many Job One for Humanity's staff, members, and website visitors do not see the global warming extinction emergency as an either/or issue. They see it as a both/and issue.
This both/and issue strategy means that they are:
a. working on their own emergency resilience Plan B backup actions below. (Parts 1 and 2 of the Job One Plan.) And,
b. if they have any direct or indirect political influence, they are also working on Part three of the Job One Plan to slow down the global warming consequences that we can no longer avoid as best as we can.
The rationale behind this individual both/and strategy is that the more we reduce global fossil fuel use to come as close as possible to the 2025 targets:
1. The more time the world will have to prepare for and adapt to the worst of the coming consequences.
2. The more individuals that will survive longer and suffer less.
The good news is that although we can no longer avoid the dieoff of much of humanity by mid-century, we can still prevent near-total or total extinction by coming at least close to the 2025 global fossil fuel reduction targets. Moreover, if we come close to the 2025 targets, we will keep ourselves from crossing the carbon 600 ppm level. (Carbon 600 ppm is the atmospheric carbon level where we will also enter the beginning phases of run-away global warming! And finally, because global warming is the biggest disruptor and threat multiplier of all our other major global crises, when we improve global warming, we also indirectly improve most of our other global crises. And, at the same time, we slow the pace of these other crises crossing their internal tipping points.
It is just that simple!

Never forget that the actions needed for this Climate Change Resilience Plan B for humanity for climate change, global warming, and many of the other critical global challenges we currently face can only successfully occur if the wealthier nations near, above, or just below the 45th parallel north and the 45th parallel south work together and cooperate with all of the other nations within the global warming unsafe zones. If fear takes hold, and the global warming safer nations close or restrict borders and do not cooperate, the conflicts/wars that will occur between the unsafe zones and the safe zones will most likely also end humanity. Humanity will find its bitter end in nuclear, biological, and chemical warfare or the other toxic meltdown consequences described above. We do need to begin transferring willing populations and critical infrastructure from high risks unsafe zones to low-risk safer zones immediately! We need to start to put the resources in place and negotiate the treaties (or whatever resources and manpower is necessary,) to ensure that the nuclear sites, the biological and chemical weapons sites, and the toxic chemical manufacturing sites in the unsafe zones go on being correctly maintained no matter how bad it gets in those zones.
There is much to transfer, build, or prepare. There is little time left to save the even smallest part of humanity and our civilization. Only by immediately beginning the above governmental resilience emergency backup plan steps do we have any reasonable hope that human life and civilization will go on.
There are additional good reasons for our using the least optimistic climate change and global warming predictions for any backup plan as well as for recovery or long-term survival plans, they are:
2. The sudden, large-scale unpredictability that each additional crossed tipping point creates. (See this tipping point page or the tipping point chapter in Climageddon. Also, see the updated Climageddon Scenario details here.
3. We will be very, very lucky if the worst we get is anything close to only the 'IPCC's current least optimistic consequence and timeframe projections! And,
4. If you are involved in mid to long-range planning in any industry, you will probably lose your job if you fail to adequately plan for the new realities of the escalating global warming extinction emergency. (Please note that implementing the above backup plan also means our local and regional business planners, city and zoning planners, long-term corporate and, national governmental planners must begin radically restructuring their current 5, 10, 25, and 50-year plans. This time they need to use the least optimistic and far more honest climate prediction scenarios [found on this website here as well as in the new Climageddon book.]
For example, in the San Francisco Bay Area, the headquarters of big tech corporations like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Apple, now have to readjust their long-term operational or relocation plans to deal with their low-lying international headquarters facing as much as 13 feet [3.9 meters] of sea-level rise by 2100. This means these billion-dollar high-tech Silicon Valley headquarters buildings will be experiencing first-floor flooding within as little as 20 to 30 years. [A worst-case but far more realistic scenario of a 10-foot, 3-meter rise by 2050 was projected by James Hansen's newest research, with the additional 3-feet, 0.9 meters accounting for by coincident king tides and storm surges.)
Never forget that unless we get the governments of the world to cooperate, manage, and execute the action steps above, there is vastly smaller hope humanity will survive no matter how well prepared we are.
At this point, you may be feeling a bit overwhelmed by what you have read and the enormity of the challenges we must overcome to survive. You may also believe the task is so enormous with such a low probability of success, why even try.
The following story may help you to begin to deal with those ideas and emotions.
The wise general
A wise Chinese general was cornered at the banks of a large river by an opposing army at least 20 times larger than his own. His only means of escape was to get his army across the river before they were attacked. This general had also previously placed enough boats on the bank of the river for escape with his army should that need arise.
As the larger army approached, pushing the smaller army closer to the river, this general gave the order to his most trusted lieutenants to rush to the boats and burn them. When his army saw their only means of escape was being destroyed, they became wildly angry and charged toward the general. The army demanded to know why their trusted general had burned their escape boats and condemned all of them to certain death at the hands of a vastly superior army.
The general calmly said, “We will win this battle or we will die. There is no other alternative and no escape.”
His army now knew their only option was victory or death. Filled with such clarity and single-mindedness of purpose, they fought with such focused intensity, they defeated the opposing army 20 times their size.
Now that you better understand the rapidly approaching extinction consequences of our global warming extinction emergency from the science and analysis found on this website, you too should no longer retain any illusion of any long-term escape for you or your family, business, or nation from immense suffering and likely extinction --- if we do not deal with the reality of this emergency.
What you also may not have realized yet, is that our 35-year failure to have previously started effective fossil fuel usage reductions means that we too, in effect, have already burned our escape boats! Because of this, like the Chinese army, we either win or we die.
This is the perilous and sad point that we have come to because of our inaction and ineffectiveness in addressing global warming and the required fossil fuel reductions for almost 35 years.
The good news is if we act wisely, cooperatively, and immediately on the above Plan B, and we radically cut fossil fuel use to close to the 2025 targets, humanity and civilization may have a chance to continue.
So what do you have to lose? What rational alternative do you have than to act immediately to begin your Climate Change Resilience Plan B as well as radically reduce your personal fossil fuel use?
What legitimate excuse is there for you to not to help us get our governments to enforce the required radical fossil fuel reductions by the necessary deadlines and that only governments can achieve? (This is done in Part 3 and Part 4 of the Job One Plan.)

Part 3 of the Job One Plan
(Special Note: The action steps described below are not actions that can be successfully achieved by citizens who have little direct or influence on politicians, intelligence agencies, and ultra-wealthy corporations, philanthropies, and individuals.)

If you already have connections of direct real influence on government politicians or, you do have indirect connections of real influence on politicians through celebrities, ultra-wealthy corporations, philanthropies, or ultra-wealthy individuals or national intelligence agencies, Part 3 is the area we recommend you do while you are doing Part 1 at the same time so that you are working for the best while you also prepare for the worst.
This information for politicians, ultra-wealthy corporations and individuals, philanthropies, and national intelligence agencies is found only in Parts 3 and 4 of the Job One Plan. It contains what absolutely must be done immediately by those entities if we are going to have any real chance of saving humanity from the likely extinction of most of humanity by mid-century. This does not even cover what will happen to all animals and other biological life.
Unfortunately, it is only the politicians, intelligence agencies, and ultra-wealthy corporations, philanthropies, and individuals that currently have sufficient direct power or influence to enact the government-driven actions described in Part 3 of the Job One Plan. Only their actions will work to reduce greenhouse gases down to carbon neutrality and net zero in time to save the future. Additionally, it is only Part 3 of the Job One Plan executed successfully that will eventually return us to safe atmospheric carbon levels of carbon 350- 270 parts per million, [ppm]. (We are at about carbon 413 ppm now.)

It focuses exclusively upon a single, painful, and dominant global warming extinction emergency reality. We must make immediate, radical, and costly reductions in our fossil fuel energy generation and use that will be achievable only through government-driven, government-enforced, and government-penalized new laws and actions. This is the single most important part of the Job One Plan.
If we do not successfully execute this step without any further delays, there is no practical hope we can prevent escalating global warming from reaching the mass human extinction level. Please also keep in mind that Part 4 of the Job One plan contains essential reading for individuals who do have a direct influence on their politicians — particularly on why many wealthy individuals, corporations, etc will want to help us solve this emergency!
Even though Parts 3 and 4 of the Job One Plan are the most difficult parts of the Job One Plan for most individuals, it is still wise to read and do them if you have the energy and resources. They are the critically important steps to helping us in reducing global fossil fuel use enough to slow down global warming enough so that:
1. the world will have more time to prepare for the very worst of the coming global warming consequences,
2. the more we reduce global fossil fuel use, the more individuals will survive longer and more comfortably,
3. the world will have more time to get the 12 other critical global challenges under control.
Part Four of the Job One Plan
Part 4 contains creative ideas on how individuals without direct influence on politicians can have an indirect influence on politicians, intelligence agencies and ultra-wealthy corporations, philanthropies, and individuals to help get the must-do critical actions found in Part 3 done. Part 4 also contains essential reading for individuals who do have a direct influence on their politicians — particularly on why many wealthy individuals and corporations will want to help us solve this emergency.
Getting the governments of the world to act or work together is a Herculean task. Saving our future will require nothing less than a massive mobilization of our politicians and the major governments of the world and their resources.
Part 4 offers indirect influence strategies, bypasses, and creative workarounds that if enough of us do them, might help influence the politicians, intelligence agencies and ultra-wealthy corporations, philanthropies, and individuals that do have the influence to enact the critical government-driven actions described in Part 3 of the Job One Plan.
The good news is that, if we successfully execute the 4 parts of the Job One Plan, humanity and most other species will survive the global warming extinction emergency.

Where we stand today on ONLY the global warming extinction emergency as determined by atmospheric carbon levels
Please read this if you still have doubts on why you need to start your Plan B as soon as possible.
We are still not making the required (or even significant) progress on our last-chance 2025 global fossil fuel reduction targets. Yet, these are the fossil fuel reduction targets that we must meet to have any reasonable remaining hope of preventing a mass human, animal, and biological die-off from unfolding by mid-century. Moreover, these are the same targets we must get close to to prevent a near-total or total extinction of humanity beginning in about 50-70 years.
In addition to rising atmospheric methane, atmospheric carbon levels also tell the story of our future. Today, whenever atmospheric carbon is going up, global warming consequences are always getting worse.
On the other hand, it is good if atmospheric carbon goes back down, especially when it moves back close to the minimal safe carbon 270-350 parts per million (ppm) level. (For hundreds of thousands of years before the fossil fuel-powered Industrial Revolution, our atmospheric carbon level was steady at about 270 carbon parts per million.)
As you can see from the carbon graph below in parts per million (PPM), we are going in the entirely wrong carbon reduction direction in spite of all you hear in the media or from our governments about fossil fuel reduction progress. We are adding more heat-causing carbon pollution to our atmosphere every year at even faster rates!
As of late 2021, we crossed the hazardous carbon 420 ppm mark. In the carbon 425-450 ppm range, we will cross the first of three other critical extinction-accelerating global warming tipping points.
When over the next 2-3 years we enter the atmospheric carbon 425-450 ppm level, global warming consequences will start getting worse in frequency, severity, and scale, and scale. Wise individuals who understand this tipping point and who also understand the 28 powerful barriers to our success for coming close to the 2025 global fossil fuel reduction targets will see that the odds of us meeting the 2025 targets are, unfortunately, very low, if not all but impossible.
Moreover, rational individuals and businesses aware of the extinction-accelerating consequences of a 2025 fossil fuel reduction failure and the worsening of the other 11 major global crises can also see and project that things are and will rapidly move further in the wrong direction! Because of all of the preceding, many wise individuals and businesses are already creating emergency backup adaptation plans (Plan B) to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their businesses. And, many of our staff, members, visitors, as well as other climate researchers also are implementing personal Plan B strategies (below) to better prepare for, adapt to, and manage global warming's worst coming consequences as well as the coming consequences of our other 11 major critical global crises.
