Conservatives deny global warming. But, progressives deny how bad it's really going to get and how fast it's coming!

It's not just conservatives denying the facts about global warming. Almost ALL progressives either...

deny or are wildly ignorant of just how bad global warming will get and how soon that will happen.

Most progressives are unaware that the very worst extinction-level consequences of global warming will come long before 2100. They also are generally unaware that long before 2050, we will be experiencing massive global warming-related collapses in our food growing systems as well as collapses within our global economic, ecological and political systems.

This denial and/or ignorance among progressives concerning the actual coming global warming consequences and timetables is because:

a. Progressives in general, hate really bad news and unfortunately, they have developed many wonderful distorting denial mechanisms like the one hundred monkey theory, the butterfly effect, the silver bullet, God will save us, aliens will save us, new technology will save us and other near magical, longshot solutions to maintain either a disproportionate or inappropriate optimism or, to believe everything is okay and will get better even, when reality and the physics and math of this situation demonstrate it won't.

b. Only a few courageous climate scientists and nonprofit organizations with very limited media access are bravely and loudly ringing the alarm bell about the real consequences and timetables.

To discover what almost all progressives either deny or are ignorant about concerning the real consequences and timetables of the coming global warming catastrophes, go to this page. This reality check page explains what the real and near-term global warming future (5, 10, 15, 20, 30 and 50 years from now,) will be like for progressives and conservatives alike...

Here is a direct link to the MIT article mentioned in the comments above: http://www.joboneforhumanity.org/mit_says_it_will_take_400_years_to_get_green_energy_to_replace_fossil_fuel_energy

The MIT article seems to assume the demand for energy will continue to grow. I wonder though, what would be the consequences of getting out the message in the MIT article? A drop in the birth rate? Will people continue to have children? Will there be many deaths from climate related events? Will there be a significant drop in world population? If this does occur and electrification proceeds, will these factors combine to result in a far more rapid decline in emissions than would otherwise be predicted?

Things will happen, there will be unexpected developments and unintended consequences, good and bad, but the process must start, and to start it there must first be a world-wide understanding of the true gravity of the situation, which will come only with communication. And it should not take long, if done properly
    it will go viral.

I should add that I think the ability of the human race to respond to a challenge of this magnitude is completely unknown, but the first challenge must be to create circumstances which will lead at least to a meaningful attempt at self preservation. Mass panic may result, but that is a risk that must be taken.

The MIT article explaining the current state of climate change is a masterpiece, the clearest description I have read, on that subject or perhaps on any subject. I believe the proper approach now is to simply distribute that article to as many people as possible, with no recommendations for action of any kind, no criticisms of other groups or their actions or inaction or opinions, no requests for donations, no suggestions that there may be any solutions or answers. The time is past for all of that. Translate the article into every language, distribute it to every person on the planet, let it sink in.

That will set the mood. As Jerry Brown said recently, climate change may be a problem politicians cannot fix. He is right, the demand for a fix, if there is one, and it is far from certain there is, must come from the people, and they must demand it unequivocally and almost unanimously, leaving politicians to respond.
