It appears that in exchange for a one-time payment for past climate change damage, California and Governor Newsom are going to give the fossil fuel cartel a pass on paying for current and future climate change damages.
This is an insane profit windfall for the fossil fuel cartel and its crafty lawyers and lobbyists. By paying California a one-time payment for its past crimes of toxic pollution and all the health costs it has inflicted upon California citizens, it is getting a pass on all current and future climate change damage.
