Providing young people worldwide with honest, realistic, and appropriate hope about their escalating climate change-affected future and how to survive it is absolutely critical.

Those three words (honest, realistic, and appropriate) are packed with meaning. They demand unpacking so that we are not presenting the young people of the world with inaccurate "hopium" or equally inaccurate doomer, post-doomer, or the Near Term Human Extinction (NTHE) "all is lost" climate change perspective. 

The future that young people face because of escalating climate change's many now unavoidable consequences will consist of continually increasing hardships, sacrifices and losses until we get climate change under control.

Unfortunately, getting climate change under control is decades away. 

Not only will young people suffer increasing hardships and losses, and be asked to endure many sacrifices, they will also need to be highly proactive in preparing for, adapting to, and building high levels of climate change resilience where they live now, in their communities, or new locations as many will be forced to migrate to survive.

The world's young people will also need to be highly collaborative and cooperative, with egos and personal gain taking a back seat to the increasing group and community needs. Despite doing everything right, some young people will not survive the coming decades. This is because some climate change-driven consequences are highly unpredictable as to their locations and timeframes.  

Despite all the many challenges ahead, many young people will survive and eventually thrive. Humanity and civilization will learn and go on because the world's young people will do everything within their control to survive the climate change nightmare and its interaction with humanity's 11 other major global crises.

Even though the world's young people will endure continual hardship and suffering until we fix the climate change emergency, these ordeals will develop strong, resilient characters and provide powerful and focused meaning and purpose in their lives. Some young people will even see the climate change emergency as the greatest global challenge and adventure humanity has ever faced.
